I didn’t plan to become pregnant at 43. I didn’t have any kids, my business was expanding, and I was on the cusp of graduating from my holistic healing school. But, life has a way of surprising us in the moments we think we’ve got it figured out.

I knew my body’s history — the stretch marks on my thighs since high school, the stories written into my sisters’, my mother’s, my grandmother’s skin. I knew the likelihood of my own belly marking itself as it grew. And yet, in the quiet moments of early pregnancy, I found myself wanting to care for my skin — for myself — in a deeper, gentler way than ever before.

So I did what most mothers do: I started searching. I read labels. I compared creams. I dug into ingredient lists that felt more like chemistry exams than body care. And the deeper I looked, the more unsettled I felt.

I used my knowledge as an aromatherapist and dug into the research. I found inspiration online, but nobody who would make the product for me with the level of purity that I required. Begrudgingly, I gathered the ingredients and the tools together – the shea butter, nourishing oils, and plant ingredients that are safe, wise, time-honored. Slowly, batch by small batch, I blended them with the kind of intention that only comes from carrying life inside you.

That’s how my first belly butter was born — not from a grand business plan, but from a personal prayer for safety, nourishment, and love.

As my belly grew, I used my butter every day. And when my birth took an unexpected turn into a cesarean, that balm followed me into healing. I can’t claim it prevented stretch marks or accelerated recovery — but I can tell you what I witnessed:
