I’m Ali — founder of Sophia Insight Organics. This is the story of how a little jar of homemade belly butter, born from love and concern for my baby, grew into a small business dedicated to safe, pure bodycare and aromatherapy for pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

I discovered I was pregnant in the summer of 2023. I had just turned 43 — my body was changing in ways I hadn’t planned for.  The women in my family — on both sides — carry their stories in their skin: stretch marks, scars, the quiet record of births and changes and whole lives lived. I’d even had stretch marks on my thighs and butt since high school. I knew I was prone to them.

My holistic healing practice was already growing out of my lifelong passion to help others heal from within. And my lifelong interest in nontoxic & sustainable living multiplied before I even knew I was pregnant – the power of creating life within you is truly magical.

So when I began consciouly preparing for motherhood, I went searching for skincare that honored both my changing body and the safety of the life growing inside me. What I found was discouraging. Products were filled with synthetic preservatives, mineral oil, or essential oils that aren’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Even the more “natural” or handmade options used ingredients I couldn’t comfortably put on my own body, let alone the precious life growing inside me.

So, I did what I have done my whole life: instead of compromising, I began to create.

I pulled together notes from school, dove into research, experimented with recipes recommended by others, blended oils and butters I trusted, and tested combinations until I found what felt true — the right texture, the right nourishment, the right scent. Effective for mama. Safe for baby. Rooted in nature.

After my son was born, that belly butter became the balm I used to support my healing from an unplanned cesarean. My scar healed quickly and beautifully — and I am now the only woman in my family without stretch marks from pregnancy. I can’t say whether it was solely the belly butter or a mix of care, diet, and mindset. What I do know is that when I began sharing this butter with others, their feedback felt nothing short of magical.

People used it on their feet, their elbows, their existing stretch marks, their dry skin — and again and again, I heard the same thing: “This is actually helping.”

Around the same time, I made my own diaper rash cream because, once again, nothing on the shelf (nor online) met the level of purity I wanted for my baby. The way it worked — fast, gentle, soothing — amazed us. But we weren’t sure if it was just our baby. So I shared it with other mamas, and they all came back with the same relief and gratitude.

If you’ve ever cared for a tiny human with diaper rash, you know how heartbreaking those moments can be. To create something that not only works, but does so with zero synthetic ingredients, is deeply meaningful.

That’s when I realized: I wasn’t just making creams. I was creating an opportunity — a way for other families to benefit from handmade, pure, nontoxic, effective products without spending hours researching, testing, and hoping they got it right.

From there, the path opened.

This is still just the beginning.

What started as a handmade belly butter for personal use has grown into a passion for sharing safe, nature-rooted care with as many families as possible. Because the honest truth is that I still haven’t found anyone doing what I do, the way I do it.

Sophia Insight Organics was built from that initial moment of searching for something trustworthy for myself and my baby — and choosing to make it by hand.

Everything here is crafted in small batches, using ingredients you can pronounce, free from synthetics, gentle, effective, and rooted in trust. For mamas, babies, families, seekers of wellness — for anyone whose skin is craving truth, nourishment, and love.
